Why Silicone Lube is Optimal for Vaginal Health

Why Silicone Lube is Optimal for Vaginal Health

Slipp condoms are made with pure, medical grade silicone lube. We love this ingredient as a lube - not only because it's compatible with condoms, but also because its properties make it optimal for vaginal health. Let's talk about why!

First - Why Lube Matters

Using lube with condoms is important because it reduces friction. Too much friction can cause irritation and discomfort, and it can even cause the condom to break. This is why many condoms come pre-lubricated (but we always recommend adding a little more of your own).

However, not all lubes are condom-friendly! Oil-based lubes can break down latex, causing them to break. As a rule of thumb, always look for either silicone-based or water-based lube to pair with condoms.

So, Why Silicone Lube?

1. Pure silicone lubricant does not contain water, making it pH-neutral. This means that it won't disrupt the vaginal pH.

2. It does not dry out over time, so it won't suck the moisture out of the vaginal cells.

3. Because of it's slippery-ness, it does not require the use of additives like glycerin (an ingredient that can contribute to potential irritation).

4. It's safe to use with condoms! Unlike oil-based lube.

5. It's waterproof, making it a great option for waterplay. Just be careful, because it's slippery!

Are There Any Cons of Silicone Lube?

There are 2 key things to keep in mind when it comes to Silicone lube:

1. It's not compatible with silicone toys. Silicone lube can break down silicone - so you'll want to avoid it if you're using silicone sex toys. Because of this, avoid using Slipp condoms with silicone sex toys.

2. It can be difficult to wash. Because it's waterproof, silicone lube can be difficult to wash out of sheets. This isn't something you need to worry about when using Slipp condoms, because it's a small amount of lube. But if you have a whole bottle of silicone-based lube, keep that in mind.
